About Us

Thank you for visiting our website today. .THAIJINDESU – translated from the Japanese Romanji – literally means “THAI PEOPLE”.Thaijindesu Thai & Sushi Bar offers unique dinners reminescent of an exotic journey through Thailand & Japan. It has been a long time dream of Ken’s to bring cuisine from his native Thailand, to Newport News. Our dishes are individually prepared from the finest, freshest and most exotic ingredients.

Prasit “Ken” Khachenrum ‘s extensive career in food and beverage began in his native Thailand at the renowned Grand Hyatt Hotel in Bangkok. Ken later joined the staff of the Commodore Cruise Lines, preparing a variety of cuisines in the various ship restaurants while sailing the Caribbean and perfecting his craft.

He came to the US in the early 1990’s, settled in the Washington, DC area, where he worked at several fine eateries. He was the Sushi Chef for Yosaku Japanese Restaurant there for several years.

Ken came to the Virginia Peninsula in 2002 and opened Pattaya Thai Cuisine in Yorktown.
In 2006, with nearly 2 decades of food service experience, he opened the doors of Thaijindesu , Thai and Sushi Bar in the Port Warwick section of Newport News and it quickly became a luncheon and dinner favorite.
Even today with the demands of operating a fine restaurant, Ken personally prepares all the sushi served at Thaijindesu and the pride he demonstrates in his work is a delight to the eyes, as well as the taste buds.

Sincerely,
Prasit (Ken) Khachenrum and staff
